Dr. Greg Matthews

Veterinarian

Originally from Pemberville, Ohio, I graduated from Eastwood High School in 1968. I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 1975.

After graduation, I started a mixed practice in Bowling Green, Ohio, and practiced there for 9 years. The next year was spent working at Select Embryos, Inc., in Plain City, Ohio, doing Embryo Transfer work on cattle. In 1986, I purchased Dr. Russell Miller's veterinary practice in Republic, Ohio and a year later I opened the Fremont office in the Potter Village Shopping Center. In 2009, we moved into our new facility just north of Fremont at 2180 Dickinson St.

I very much enjoy private practice and working with both large and small animals. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the International Embryo Transfer Society and the Society For Theriogenology and regularly attend continuing education meetings.

Dr. Julie Matthews

Veterinarian

I started working full time as a veterinarian at our clinic in July 2009. Growing up I spent many years working at the clinic assisting in the office.

I graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1998 and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from The Ohio State University in 2002. I spent a year working as an Admissions Counselor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Soon I realized I really wanted to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. I went back to Ohio State and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in June of 2009.

I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, but have a particular interest in dermatology and pain management. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling the world, spending time with my pets and reading. I currently have 4 dogs that mean the world to me. I look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Bailey E. Lemmerbrock

Veterinarian

Originally from Dublin, Ohio, I graduated from Dublin Jerome High School, went to undergraduate school at the University of Findlay, and graduated veterinary school from the University of Missouri. I grew up with dogs, cats, horses, and goats and love animals big and small! I am just starting out with my veterinary career and am excited to provide care to Fremont and the surrounding communities! I have 2 dogs (a heeler and a hound mix) and a cat (my first bottle baby foster fail). In my free time my fiance and I are working on getting our minifarm up and running. I'm also the oldest of 5, so I have a big family down near Columbus and I love to visit them whenever I can. Thank you for the opportunity to care for your animals! I look forward to meeting you all!

Marilyn Matthews

Office Manager

I have been actively involved in our veterinary practice since Greg and I opened our first office in Bowling Green in 1975. I really enjoy working in the veterinary field and getting to work with all the animals and their owners.
I graduated from Fairbanks High School in Milford Center in 1969 and from Capital University in 1973. We have two daughters. We have had several pets through the years and we now have two small dogs, and of course our resident office cats Ricky and Desi.

Lesa Smith

Veterinary Technician

I am a graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Stautzenberger College. I have been part of the Countryside team since 2004. I might be the first person you meet at the desk, or the last person you see on your way out. Taking the best care of your pets from beginning to end.
I enjoy spending time outside at our small farm where we have a little bit of everything. Thanks for trusting us with your four -legged family member.

Marla Sidell

Veterinary Assistant

I've worked with my Countryside family since 2000. I assist with just about every part of the clinic from surgeries and answering the phone to handing out hugs to bereaved pet parents. I love what I do and enjoy every moment of it.
I have three rescue dogs that love to hike and camp with us. I also love trail riding with my horse Lilly. On our little farm we also have cats, chickens, and ducks. All of this keeps me very busy when I'm not at Countryside.

Jen Balduf

Veterinary Assistant

I am a lifelong resident of Oak Harbor and a 1989 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. After spending 10 yrs in sales at a local wholesale company I decided it was time for a change. I joined the team of Countryside in April 2017 and never looked back.
I also work at the Humane Society of Ottawa County - a totally different aspect of helping people care for pets. I feel so lucky to have two jobs where I get to work with all kinds of different animals. I’m currently a vet tech student at Stautzenberger College with a projected graduation of Dec. 2024.
I'm currently sharing a home with two other people and several gorgeous kitties.
